Gov Pramono Promotes Jakarta as a World-Class Sports Destination

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially opened the BTN Jakarta International Marathon (Jakim) 2025 with a flag-off at the Northwest Crossroad of the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta on Sunday morning (6/29).

In his speech, Pramono emphasized the Jakarta Government's full commitment to supporting the organization of this international running event. He also assured that the entire course would be free from traffic disruptions so that the runners could experience comfort and safety.

"Because all the tracks taken by the runners today are free from traffic disturbances, the Jakarta Government fully supports this," he expressed.

BTN JAKIM 2025 to Boost Economy, Pramono Says

Closing the runner track positively impacted hotel occupancy around the BTN Jakim 2025 event. Additionally, this marathon event also brought an economic impact for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

He hoped that the Jakarta International Marathon could continue to improve its quality each year to elevate its status and become one of the elite marathon events in the world.

"That's why we fully support the promotion to the next grade," he stressed.

This running event recorded a participation record with a total of 31,600 runners, competing in the 10K, half marathon, and full marathon categories. The event also gained international appeal as participants came not only from within the country but also from 51 other countries.

"Why we truly provide full support, because I hope this becomes a kind of destination for people to go on sports tourism to Jakarta," he asserted.

Hopefully, Jakarta would become a sports destination and creates a healthier society.

PT BTN Director, Nixon LP Napitupulu stated running is the most popular sport among the community. This high enthusiasm for running is one of the main factors for the organization of BTN Jakim 2025.

"Indeed, the running culture has been around in Jakarta for a long time. And together with the Governor, we want to create a great running event in Indonesia," he explained.

He also expressed his commitment to help realize Jakarta as a sports tourism destination and to elevate the Jakarta International Marathon to a higher level. Next year, the BTN Jakim event is targeted to reach 40,000 participants, and by 2027, 50,000 participants.

"We will strive for it every year if we can advance to the next grade. So, we will realize Jakarta as a sports tourism destination city," he stated.
